Hi! I'm Brittany Erwin, an Indianapolis wedding photographer based out of Speedway Indiana out here on the near West side. I love to travel for awesome weddings, especially to Columbus and Chicago.
I am a huge nerd, geek, and possibly a bit of a dork too. You can find my husband(and second shooter) and I out at GenCon almost every year playing as many board games as possible or out at Tappers, the arcade bar, in Fountain square on date nights. We have a wonderful son, Malcolm, that is incredibly smart and already hilarious at 2 years old. We also have a dog, Ripley, named after Ellen Ripley from the Alien franchise. She's a bag of crazy in the body of a brindle pit mix that just wants to love... and chase squirrels.
In photography terms, we love to find stunning light and let the magic happen. I would describe our style as posed photo-journalistic. I love finding fun and intimate moments throughout a wedding day while also capturing some stunning portraits in great light.
I am so very grateful that I get to go out on weekends with my awesome husband and photograph so many wonderful couples that keep my smiling and laughing every week.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: How long have you been a wedding photographer?
A: I photographed my very first wedding all the way back in 2010 right after graduating from Herron School of Art with a BFA in photography and took my business full-time in 2012.
Q: What do you wear to photograph weddings?
A: Typically, I wear either a dress or black pants and a formal top. If you want me to dress up like a storm trooper, we can talk about it, I might just miss a few shots.
Q: Do you offer albums/prints in any packages?
A: Yes, the standard and comprehensive coverage options include an album and mounted print.
Q: Does it cost extra to have the images edited?
A: Nope! That's included and all images you receive will be edited so they are ready to print.
Q: What is the first look?
A: It is when the couple sees each other for the first time before the ceremony. This can be great because it allows couples to move directly from the ceremony to the reception.
Q: What is required to book my date?
A: A 50% retainer and signed contract are both required to book your date.
Q: How long is 'full day' wedding coverage?
A: Typically about 10 hours, it starts with makeup/hair and ends after all main events at the reception and a bit of open dancing. We'll always double check with you before we leave for the night. :)
Q: Can we meet before I book?
A: Absolutely! Shoot us an email or visit our contact page to set up a meeting.
Q: How would you describe your shooting style?
A: I say a mix of posed and photo-journalistic. I love to place couples in amazing light looking great and then let them interact naturally. As a bit of an awkward person myself, I can appreciate the awkwardness from being in front of a camera, so I'll definitely help you out on what to do with your hands.
Q: Do you use flash for any of your photography?
A: Yes, however, I will never use a flash during your ceremony.
Q: How long before I receive my photos after my wedding?
A: Typically about 6 weeks for the full gallery, but sneak peeks go up on the blog about a week after your wedding.
Q: How many photos should I expect from my wedding day?
A: Typically, 500 – 700 edited images.
Q: Do you shoot with film or digitally?
A: I currently shoot digital only and LOVE the flexibility that allows.
