Summer Studio Portraits | Indy portrait photographer

This summer has been extra awesome with the addition of our studio with the custom hand-made barn wood wall, hand painted canvas backdrops and a new seamless white backdrop. I absolutely love that the giant grassy yard out back gives us so much versatility for portraits to get a mix of studio and outdoor. Thank you so much to everyone that has made the studio so worth all the work we put in to make it happen. We are excited for the future as the studio gets finished up with a prop closet and a gorgeous new meeting space. We had a few head shots come through, little miss Ripley, and a new awesome family in the past few weeks! Kicking us off is the lovely Victoria of Marry Me in Indy, followed by Charlotte and Ripley then finishing us off is our big adorable crew!

Claire’s first birthday cake smash and family portraits | Indianapolis studio photographer

Dana and Scott were one of the very first wedding couples that I photographed when I went full time back in 2012. They had a stunning wedding out at the Story Inn(which I’m excited to go back to this fall!). For the last several years, I have photographed their big family portrait every year and various milestones in their life. It has been such an honor to photograph their growing family. Last weekend, they came by the studio for some family portraits and little miss Claire’s first birthday portraits and cake smash! We did some super cute portraits in the studio before heading out into the gorgeous morning light to let her have her adorable cupcake on a blanket surrounded by grass – the little lady’s kryptonite. I am happy to report that she loved her cupcake(that was super cute with some adorable rose-shaped icing) and I had so much fun photographing her digging in. Here are a few favorites of the Rizzi crew out here in the studio!

Gwen = 1 year old! | Outdoor cake smash photographer

Little miss Gwen is turning one and wants none of your cake, thank you very much! For her first birthday portraits, we went out to my favorite rural location, the pond, and took some family portraits and some super cute 1 year photos of the little lady by herself before heading over to a sweet shaded path to do her cake smash. She was not a fan of the cake but loved the bubbles we played with and had a blast collecting rocks to share with everyone – such a sweetheart! <3 I had so much fun with little Gwen and her parents Gretchen and Joe! Here are a few favorites from her session out in Camby!

Marc + Melanie = 3! | Indianapolis studio newborn photographer

Little Emilia was more interested in showing off her sweet smile and awesome personality than sleeping but that was a-okay for us and gave us some really adorable photos! She did still take a couple little catnaps for us so that we could get a couple absolutely adorable sleepy newborn portraits. I absolutely loved her little ‘Hello World’ outfit that she gave us a wave in and her crazy cute floral swaddle. Congratulations to Marc and Melanie on a perfect little girl and thank you for making the big trip up here to the studio and for toughing it out on the nakie newborn studio temp!

New pup, new gear | Indianapolis photographer

Hi! So, it’s been a REEEAALLY long time since I’ve done any kind of personal post on here so I thought I’d give you all an update with all the new craziness going on around here. As some of you already know, we got a new pup named Ripley that is a gorgeous brindle pit bull. She is absolutely crazy out our little guy, Malcolm, and he is crazy about her. Shortly after she came to us, we lost our beloved Strawberry at the ripe old age of 17. He had an amazing life with us and gave us many years of love and shenanigans. Last week, we had another new addition here at the studio. A new zoom lens, which is a little out of character for me, but it is a beast and I am loving the results we are getting. I am working hard to get to know the lens completely so it’s ready to join us when wedding season kicks into high gear.  In true photographer form, Ripley has had a new set of pup-head-shots and some lifestyle portraits. You’re going to love her playing with Malcolm in the tub – hang in there for that!

Here are a couple from Strawberry’s last portrait session. So very glad I made time to get him in during the spring minis.

Here’s little Ripley! Special shout out to BarkBox for the awesome toys and treats that she loves and bonus for 1 toy that’s not quite completely destroyed yet! Haha!

Here’s Malcolm, helping me run the new lens through all the tests I need and not completely approving of the zoom tests – haha!

Here’s a little bonus of some practice with my macro using some new techniques from a wedding photography class I took to brush up on my mad skills.
