Planning a wedding can be overwhelming. I know because I’ve done it. So let me start by saying, you’re doing a great job, and I know you’ve got questions because you probably aren’t a professional wedding planner. Even if you are, you’ve got questions. I’ve put together a list of some of the most frequently asked questions we get with their answers! Hopefully this helps you navigate through the choosing a photographer part of planning a wedding. Bear with me on some of these geeky answers, I’m a nerd and I think I’m (a little)funny. 😛


Q: What do you wear to photograph weddings?

A: Typically, I wear either a dress or black pants and a formal top. If you want me to dress up like a storm trooper, we can talk about it, I might just miss a few shots.


Q: Do you offer digital files in any of your packages?

A: Yes, all our listed coverage options include a downloadable gallery with print release.


Q: How long have you been shooting weddings?

A: I shot my very first wedding all the way back in 2010 and went full-time in 2012 as a wedding photographer. You can see our past weddings over on the blog.


Q: Do you offer albums/prints in any packages?

A: Yes, the standard and comprehensive coverage options include an album(like this premium album) and mounted print.


Q: Does it cost extra to have the images edited?

A: Nope! That’s included and all images you receive will be edited so they are ready to print.


Q: What is the first look?

A: It is when the couple sees each other for the first time before the ceremony. This is great because it allows couples to move directly from the ceremony to the reception.


Q: If I don’t want something in a package, can you remove it?

A: Yes, all collections are customizable to suit your needs and fit into your budget.


Q: What forms of payment do you accept?

A: Cash or Check


Q: What is required to book my date?

A: A 50% retainer and signed contract are both required to book your date.


Q: When is the remaining amount due?

A: One week before the wedding.


Q: How long is ‘full day’ coverage?

A:  Typically about 12 hours, it starts with makeup/hair and ends after all main events at the reception and a bit of open dancing.


Q: Can we meet before I book?

A: Absolutely! Shoot us an email or visit our contact me page to set up a meeting.


Q: How would you describe your shooting style?

A: I am, mainly, a photo-journalistic photographer. However, I also like to take some time out to do posed portraits with a natural feel as well. My favorite way to do this is to get couples in an awesome pose where they look great and then let them interact with each other. Bonus points for having some time together not staring at a camera on wedding day!


Q: Do you use flash for any of your photography?

A: Yes, however, I will never use a flash during your ceremony.


Q: How long before I receive my photos after my wedding?

A: Typically about 4-6 weeks for the full gallery with sneak peeks up a few days after your wedding.


Q: How many photos should I expect from my wedding day?

A: Typically, 500 – 800 edited images.


Q: Do you shoot with film or digitally?

A: I currently shoot digital only and LOVE the flexibility that allows.

Kelly + Katie = 3! | Indianapolis maternity portrait photographer

Katie and Kelly are a couple familiar faces around here on the blog. You might remember them from their amazing announcement where we incorporated the Cubs winning the World Series or their awesome engagement session or wedding up near Chicago. I am so grateful to have these two lovely ladies as friends and to have followed them along for their journey into being really kick-a… butt… moms! They are just so totally awesome and I loved getting to photograph them with their pup here at the studio! Here area  few of my favorites.

This little guy has more style than most of us have in our little pinkie. I just love his outfits and might just have to have his mommy start doing my little guy’s shopping. And wait til you see how much hair this little guy has now! I’m sure his mommy and daddy will agree when I say that he’s growing up way too fast. I can’t wait to see this dancing fool once he’s standing all on his own but for now, check out this cutie’s 9 month photos here at the studio.


Indy VegFest | Indianapolis event photographer Pavilion at Pan Am

Last weekend marked the first annual Indy VegFest at the Pavilion at Pan Am. It drew a huge crowd, larger than anyone predicted, and featured tons of delicious food, drinks and wonderful vegan friendly products. I had some of the best tacos and chai I’ve ever had, met loads of awesome new people and picked up a few amazing items. Everything about the Indy VegFest was a roaring success and I can’t wait for the next one! I wish I could include photos and information on each and every amazing vendor that was rocking it at the Indy VegFest. Spring minis | Indianapolis studio portrait photographer

Last weekend we finished up the last of our mini sessions in our brand new studio space. I am so in love with our new reclaimed wood wall and am excited to have been able to incorporate it in our spring mini sessions.
